After School Safey and Programs for Community Youth Project
The National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS) http://www.FindLaw.com- Community Mobilization Program (CMP) is please to have granted the Atikokan Intergenerational Centre for Arts and Alternatives with $50,000 for the 2003-2004 After School Safety and Programs for Community Youth Project.
Project:
"For one year, daily after school (and some weekend) activities and food, so the kids can come straight from school to a place that replicates home where they can eat, feel safe, be safe, and participate in activities that are wholesome."
Objectives:

Provide positive supports and intervention to the youth of the community

Create awareness of crime and victimization amoung youth and the community

Increase the number of community initiatives directed at youth

Assist the community members to have a better understanding of the needs of youth

Increase coalition building and linkages between service providers and existing resources.
Activities: all programs after school 3:30pm to 6pm.
