Douglas Vaughan Rutledge
I was born and raised on the east coast of New Brunswick, in a very small village. Life was simple and unhurried. I received my first camera from my father, when I was 12, which I still have. As a young man, he dabbled with photography, and had many photos of the family around the house. He even tried his hand at coloring his black & white prints, all of which amazed me. Seeing my interest, he dug out his developing equipment, but it was up to me to figure out how to use it. He was surprised that I cleaned out the attic, and set up my own darkroom. Alone, and in this magical place, my love for photography blossomed. After I left home, I bought several different cameras, newer developing equipment, and soon my skills began improving. But as life puts up detours, photography took a back seat, but was never off my mind. Some years later, what really brought photography back into the foreground for me, were digital cameras. I was in love with photography all over again. I haven't taken any formal training, but I took the time to read up on photo techniques, professional photographers' experiences, and digital cameras.
I've tried to incorporate this practical information into my own viewpoint, and into my own work. The images you now see hanging on these walls, are the end result of my interest, imagination, and love for photography.http://dugpix.dns2go.com Contact email: dugpix@msn.com
I would like to thank Jacques & Teresa Perron, for their considerable skill and expertise in framing my photographs and the Ontario Arts Council for their financial support.http://www.arts.on.ca
